Working with Projects
Projects help you group related tasks together and track your progress toward larger goals.
Why use projects?
Without projects, your task list can quickly become overwhelming. Projects let you:
- Group related tasks β Keep everything for a goal in one place
- Track progress β See how far along you are at a glance
- Stay organized β Color-code projects for visual clarity
- Use AI β Generate task breakdowns automatically
Creating a project
- Go to Projects in the navigation bar
- Click New Project
- Fill in:
- Name β A clear name for your project
- Color β Pick a color for visual identification
- Description β What this project is about (optional)
- Estimated hours β How long you think the whole project will take (optional)
- Click Save
Assigning tasks to projects
There are two ways to assign tasks:
When creating a task: Select the project from the dropdown in the task form.
From the project page: Open the project and click Assign Tasks to add existing tasks to it.
Tracking progress
Each project shows:
- Total tasks and how many are completed
- Progress bar β Visual percentage of completion
- Estimated hours remaining β Based on incomplete tasks
Using AI to generate tasks
This is one of FlowPlan's most powerful features:
- Open a project
- Click AI Assistant
- Describe what you want to accomplish
- The AI will suggest a list of tasks with estimated durations
- Review and add the ones you want
Tip: Be specific in your description. Instead of "build a website," try "build a personal portfolio website with an about page, project gallery, and contact form."
Project statuses
- Active β Currently working on it. Shows in your dashboard.
- Completed β All tasks done. Marked as finished.
- Archived β Not active but kept for reference.
